Texas!

Well if you're keeping track, you'll know that I'm actually writing this on Monday, but for ease of blogging, I'm changing the dates :D

Got most of my things packed on Friday night, had a few hours lie down then up again, showered and packed without having slept much. Sent some stuff home, and got to the airport in plenty of time for the ultra boring wait in the queue for my ticket, then another equally boring wait in the queue where you take your shoes off.
The plane trip was cool, 2 hours, window seat, daytime. I amused myself hunting for hills. I didn't find many.

Bendu picked me up at the airport, and we literally wrestled my bags into his car. We won, but the bags put up a good fight. From the airport we went to Thragg's place, then Bendu, Thragg, Thragg's wife and I went to a Mexican restaurant called Macardo Juarez for dinner. I didn't eat the beans. Or the guacamole. The food was very tasty though and we had a great time.

We drove to the Fort Worth Stock Yards

the happening Fort Worth nightlife spot where Rick Springfield was performing at Billy Bobs (we decided to skip that!)

We wandered around people-watching and laughing at things like the stretched-truck,
the placard on a bridge which read "This bridge was constructed on the site of a bridge built in 1927" and the stuffed armadillos wearing six-shooters at the hip.
We stopped for a drink at Filthy McNasty's which was mostly empty but had a live band singing songs I didn't know.
. A waitress gave us all necklaces for mardi gras - I got the epic one - I'm not telling what the guys had to do to get theirs.

Lots of fun!
