Dance Sport Annual Picnic

Today was the annual Dance Sport Picnic, with games of volleyball
Potluck and BBQ
and water balloon tossing.
The park also has an enclosed off-leash dog park area, where Alfie had heaps of fun and made new friends.
Good times.

Grandmas Birthday

Today we had a family event to attend, Erich's Grandmothers 84th birthday. It was a pot luck at Grandmas place . We enjoyed ourselves and I'm becoming more familiar in the family, and trying hard to remember everyone's names!.

The HONEYMOON! - Day 5 & the trip home

A wander through the MGM Grand, and a chance to see the Lion habitat
then a few doors down we had a quick visit to the M&M shop "M&M World"
before Erich and I said goodbye to the family and headed back to California.
Mum, Aunty Trish and Uncle Les have plans to go on a tour to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam tomorrow, then away from Las Vegas Airport to Los Angeles then back to New Zealand the day after.

The HONEYMOON! - Day 4

Today is shopping day for the tourists. We headed out to the Las Vegas Outlet Center so they could get the best deals and Erich and I waited patiently.
Afterwards, we headed for the Bonanza Gift & Souvenir shops. "Worlds Largest Gift Shop"
Then into the Sahara across the road, through the Nascar Cafe
then upstairs to enjoy a Buffet dinner.
The Fremont Street "old" strip was our next stop, and we admired the huge light and sound show (over 5 football fields in length)
and some guys in a motorcycle cage

The HONEYMOON! - Day 3

Erich, Alfie and I decided to head out to the Hoover Dam on our own, since Mum, Aunty Trish and Uncle Les were taking a tour out there and to the Grand Canyon after Erich and I head home in a few days.
Just a few minutes out of Las Vegas, and we were in the desert again.

As we were approaching Lake Mead we kept an eye out for mountain goats
If you look closely you'll see some here...
ok, ok, they're just goats.. but they're wild Mountain Goats! I'm not really sure what I expected of the Hoover Dam, but I didn't expect it to be in Arizona..
or half in Arizona and half in Nevada anyway.. We stopped on the Arizona side to take a couple of pictures
It was too hot to leave him in the care, and the ground was so hot Alfie couldn't walk on it, so we carried him for a bit so we could take more photos.
In this pic we're on top of the dam. The white line is the old water level.
The dam from the Nevada side
Comparing the picture with the background shows huge change with the lower water level
Back in Las Vegas, Mum and Aunty Trish got into some mischief.

We met up with everyone and continued our meander through the casinos on the strip.
Harrahs
Caesars Palace
Bellagio
At 7.30pm we watched the musical fountain display - very awesome..
After that we crossed over the road to Paris
then went through to Bally's and Margaritaville
then back to the car. After dinner at In & Out burger we headed back to the motel again. TIRED!

The HONEYMOON! - Day 2

We decided to take our time and wander in and out of casinos along the strip and admire the architecture. New York, New York
Excalibur
Luxor
(apparently those statues were HOT)
Then on the Monorail to Mandalay Bay where they have their own beach with wave pool.
We each took a spin on the biggest pokie machine we could find
but alas, we didn't win. Maybe we needed some of this:
We took the monorail back from Mandalay bay to Excalibur then walked back to our motel for an afternoon siesta. In the evening we gave ourselves a driving tour of the strip night lights, where even the pawn shops are sparkly.
Just before we headed back to the motel we spotted a temperature readout - it was 30 degrees at 1am.

The HONEYMOON! Day 1 - To Las Vegas

We left for Las Vegas during the day so we could see the sights on the way down.
it was neat. I think this area has wind... and, I never did see any speeders get pulled over by any aircraft.
Just on dusk we passed a airplane graveyard.

Aww how sweet, our first family pic - under a Joshua tree in the Mojave desert!

This picture was taken at 9.30pm - its 93 degrees Fahrenheit - thats 34 degrees!
We arrived at our motel in Las Vegas at about 10pm. The family went to bed, but since our motel was next door to the Hooters casino, Erich and I went there and had dinner. Oh hey, its my birthday too.. Happy Birthday Me!
